Project background and customer requirements
As the world's largest steel enterprise, China Baowu Steel Group has implemented an intelligent transformation project for its hot-rolling production lines to enhance the high-end plate production capacity of its Baoshan Steel base and Wuhan Steel Base. As a core component of the rolling mill, the transmission system needs to meet the operational requirements of high temperature, high torque and high precision.
- Batch demand: 1,300 transmission components, including 700 universal shafts and 600 drum gear couplings, to be delivered in batches within three months
- Environmental adaptability: Resistant to high-temperature radiation (ambient temperature -10℃ to 150℃), resistant to iron oxide scale erosion, and capable of continuous operation for 24 hours

Customized solutions
1. High-temperature environment adaptation design
The universal joint shaft is integrally forged from 42CrMoNiMo high-strength alloy material, and the cross shaft is carburized and quenched (HRC60-62). The tooth surface of the drum gear coupling is coated with a special wear-resistant coating and equipped with high-temperature grease (operating temperature -30℃ to 200℃) to enhance stability in high-temperature environments.
2. Large-scale production guarantee
Activate the dual-line parallel production mode, configure 15 sets of high-precision processing equipment, and achieve the processing accuracy of key components reaching IT5 level. Introduce an online detection system to conduct 100% automated detection of parameters such as the swing Angle accuracy of universal shafts and the side clearance of coupling teeth, ensuring batch consistency.
3. Delivery plan by base
The delivery will be made in three batches according to the base's requirements: 400 pieces (200 universal shafts + 200 couplings) will be delivered to the Baoshan base in the first month; 500 pieces (300 universal shafts + 200 couplings) will be delivered to the Wuhan base in the second month; and the remaining 400 pieces will be delivered in the last month. Installation and calibration services are provided as a package to ensure precise matching with the rolling mill.
